Weather roughened hands,
a black worn hat,
the rodeo belt buckle that has seen better days.
Grey blue eyes full of mischief,
a ready smile that you can't guess about,
steady strong words of wisdom for us to hear.
Snaps on a long sleeved shirt,
broke in brown slippers,
a coffee stained cup.
Prickly whiskers against my cheek,
a dab of white lather on a nose,
the lingering smell of old spice after shave.
The sound of a fishing reel,
quiet voices of crickets and frogs,
sitting around a sizzling camp fire at night.
Father,
although you have been gone for many years,
I still hold dear all the memories,
every little thing that rem

Neither now nor tomorrow
Aching for just the barest of a touch,
heart pounding, skin tingling, flesh yearning.
Eyes peering in the light of day,
looking far, looking near, capturing the sight of that person.
Feeling in the distance, not far, yet not close enough,
a breeze, a whisper, the softest of caresses.
Hand stretching out, fingers wiggling to touch,
brushes past, slipping through, beyond the tips.
Was it real, was it a dream, could it be seen or heard,
always near, in the imagination, in the heart.
A body or a shadow, fog or mist of the ocean spray,
blind, deaf, loosing grip, never there.
What is it then that I can't see, or hold, can't have to touc
When, if ever, does the heart mend,
so that it can truely be whole again.
Does it forever tremble and cry,
ending everything with a sigh.
Thumping hard against your chest,
never slowing gentle to rest.
Is it always sore and sad,
clinging tightly to all it had.
Ease, ease this tight feeilng,
so that I may lay dreaming.
Pure and white, glistening like the drop of dew on a blade of grass, calling, reaching, aching for you.The strands of music, the lyrics of a song, pushing the happiness into your heart. It brings forth the hope that one day, maybe soon, maybe far, but just that.. one day.
You hope.
Hope
Tender as flower petals, warm on your face like the sun shining down, clear to see as the blue of the water and beyond. The lilt of a voice, whispering words, straining to hear as it saturates your skin with love. It brings forth the hope that one day, maybe soon....but just that..one day.
You hope.

Truely dear loved one.
What does the heart tell me when you have gone astray.
What does the mind tell me when its just another day.
Truely dear loved one, is it ever going to be
just that singular moment when its only you and me.
To many miles to drive a lowly car.
Too much distance it seems by far.
Truely dear loved one, will I ever see
the color in your eyes when they're staring back at me.
Just a voice on the line.
Just a thought from time to time.
Truely dear loved one shall I even try
to hope that someday I won't have to cry.
There was a hope of begining
There is no hope to an ending.
Truely dear loved one what can ever be
of this love that you
Dream
Can you dream when the dark calls you?
Can you stroke the light when night holds you?
Can you be the bringer of life when death has already claimed you?
Savior
Savior
Can you scream his name?
Pray, pray, little one, no say to claim, a soul dirtied with toil.
Sleep quiet sweetness, let none bother the child within.
Cry little one, bring home the pain.
Cover sadness with a smile, clean the dirt with a dream.
Hover lonely ever more.
Drip, drip, drip.
Blood slips beyond control. Caressing down the body of the mind. Dark fog wraps its fingers around my soul.
Calling forth the pain of surrendering. Calling forth the howl of wildness. Calling for the chains of the heart.
Circling, surrounding, slipping, covering the wrists of love.
Lap, drink, swallow it in. Bring it forth, call it to my body. Don't push it back. Take it deeply to myself.
Bonded.
Soul to soul.
Calling me home.

Roses and Thorns
She knew long before I did how much I'd love her. She planned every day from the very start.
Spring was full of crocus and roses, she never told me life included thorns.
She knew how much the words meant to me, she knew all of my favorite songs by heart.
Summer was full of poppies and roses, she never told me life included thorns.
She knew just how much her leaving would hurt me, she knew just when to move on.
Fall was full of leaves and wilting roses, she told me life included some thorns.
I sit here pondering her next move, oh how I'm wishing she'd come home, but as my dreams have told me, she is gone.
Winter is full of cold and dead
As legend has it, not far to long ago, there lived a small and mighty fairy. She sang a tale for everyone and thus it went just so:
Birds and bees, flowers and trees, were all of my domain. Tenderness here, kind words there and protection in the rain.
This is what it used to be, until upon us they all came. Sworming up off the ocean, our wild mountains they wanted to tame.
These humans and their family kind, strolling across the land. Tearing up the flowers and trees with weapons in their hands.
They frightened all our loved ones, so our people hid down below. Wishing and hoping with all we are that those humans would just go.
